Visit Our Shops
Three locations, one mission: fresh donuts made with love. Here's everything you need to know before your visit.
When we opened our first Donutas location in 2019, it was a 400-square-foot shop on Donut Lane with six stools, one espresso machine, and a hand-painted menu board. We had no idea if people would show up. They did. By the second week, we had a line out the door at 7:30 AM, and by the end of our first year, we knew we'd eventually need more space.
Seven years later, we have three locations spread across Sweet City — each with its own personality, but all sharing the same commitment to freshness, quality, and the belief that a great donut can genuinely improve your day. Every location bakes on-site, every morning, using the same recipes and the same locally sourced ingredients. The only difference is the vibe.
Whether you're looking for a quick grab-and-go stop on your morning commute, a waterfront seat where you can watch the river while you eat, or a cozy nook where you can camp out with your laptop and a latte — we've got a Donutas for you. Below you'll find everything you need to plan your visit: hours, directions, parking, seating, and a few insider tips on the best times to come.

Our Locations
Downtown Flagship
Open NowOur original location and still the busiest. Nestled on Donut Lane in the heart of downtown, this is where it all started in 2019. Full menu, outdoor seating, and our signature pink neon sign that's become a neighborhood landmark.
The Downtown Flagship is our largest shop with 32 indoor seats and 16 on the patio. The interior was designed by a local architect who specializes in adaptive reuse — the space was originally a 1960s hardware store, and we kept the original brick walls and tin ceiling. The display case runs the full length of the counter and holds every donut on the menu, plus rotating seasonal specials.
This is also where our main production kitchen is located. You can watch the bakers working through the glass partition behind the counter — the fryers, the glazing station, the proofing racks. It's mesmerizing at 6 AM when things are at full speed. If you bring kids, they'll be glued to the window.
The patio is open from April through October and is a neighborhood favorite for weekend brunch. We string café lights overhead and keep a sidewalk chalkboard with daily specials. Dogs are welcome on the patio, and we keep a jar of complimentary dog treats behind the counter (ask for "pup cups" — small cups of whipped cream that dogs go absolutely wild for).

Insider tip: Downtown
Riverside Cafe
Open NowOpened in 2022, our Riverside location sits right along the boardwalk overlooking Sweet River. A smaller, cozier space focused on quality over quantity. We rotate seasonal specials here first, so regulars get first dibs on new flavors.
The Riverside Cafe was born out of a simple observation: a huge number of our Downtown customers mentioned they lived on the south side of the river and wished they didn't have to cross the bridge for donuts. When the old bait shop on River Walk became available, we jumped on it. The renovation took six months — we gutted the interior, added floor-to-ceiling windows facing the water, and built a 24-seat waterfront deck that's become one of the best outdoor dining spots in Sweet City.
The menu at Riverside is the same as Downtown, but with one difference: we test seasonal specials here two weeks before they hit the other locations. Our Riverside regulars have become unofficial taste testers, and their feedback has directly shaped flavors like the Honey Cardamom (which was almost cut before Riverside customers saved it with overwhelmingly positive reviews).
The café also has a stronger focus on coffee. Our Riverside barista, Ama, trained at a specialty coffee shop in Melbourne before joining us, and she runs a small but excellent espresso program. If you're a coffee nerd, this is the Donutas for you. She does latte art on every cup and sources a rotating single-origin pour-over that changes every two weeks.

Riverside's waterfront deck plus Ama's specialty lattes plus a box of fresh donuts — need we say more?
University District
NewOur newest spot, opened January 2026. Designed with students and remote workers in mind — free Wi-Fi, plenty of outlets, and a late-night window that stays open until midnight on weekdays. Plus a 10% student discount with valid ID.
The University District location came about because of a petition. Seriously — a group of Sweet City University students collected over 500 signatures asking us to open a location near campus. They presented it to Chef Maria at the Downtown shop one morning, complete with a hand-drawn map of proposed locations. We were already scouting the area, but the petition sealed the deal.
The space is a former bookstore on College Avenue, and we leaned into the academic vibe. The interior features long communal tables with built-in power strips, individual study nooks along the window wall, and a coworking section in the back with slightly quieter acoustics. The Wi-Fi is fast (we had it professionally installed with business-grade equipment) and there are no time limits on seating. We want students and remote workers to feel genuinely welcome, not pressured to buy something every 30 minutes.
The late-night window is our most unique feature. From 8 PM to midnight on weekdays, we keep a walk-up window open on the College Avenue side. The full menu isn't available — just the six most popular donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate — but it's become a hit with students studying late at the library across the street. We sell about 200 donuts a night through that window alone.
The 10% student discount applies to everything in-store with a valid student ID. We also run a "Study Fuel" deal during finals weeks: a donut and a medium coffee for $4.00, available all day, every day, for the two weeks surrounding midterms and finals.

How We Got Here
Donutas started as a side project. Chef Maria was working as a pastry chef at a fine dining restaurant downtown, making elegant petit fours and elaborate tasting menus. She loved the work, but she missed the simple, immediate joy of a really good donut. So in 2018, she started experimenting in her home kitchen on weekends — tweaking recipes, testing glazes, working through batch after batch until the dough was exactly right.
The turning point came when she brought a box of her homemade donuts to a friend's birthday party. By the end of the night, three people had asked if she sold them. She didn't, but the question planted a seed. Within six months, she'd quit her restaurant job, signed a lease on the Donut Lane space, and opened Donutas with $12,000 in savings and a lot of optimism.
The first few months were tough. She was the baker, the cashier, the janitor, and the bookkeeper. She woke up at 3 AM and didn't get home until 8 PM. But the donuts spoke for themselves. Word of mouth spread faster than any marketing campaign could, and by the end of that first year, she'd hired two bakers, a front-of-house manager, and her first barista.
The Riverside expansion in 2022 was a leap of faith — taking on a second location meant more staff, more overhead, and more risk. But the south side community embraced it immediately, and within three months it was profitable. The University District location in 2026 was the most requested expansion in our history, driven entirely by customer demand.
Today, Donutas employs 34 people across three locations. We sell over 2,400 donuts per day. We've been featured in Sweet City Magazine, the regional food section of the Times, and three "Best Of" lists. But the thing Chef Maria is most proud of? "Every donut we sell was made that morning, by someone who cares. That hasn't changed since day one."
